Catching Fire is the second book and movie of the Hunger Games series. The Hunger Games is about a girl named Katniss Everdeen who is chosen to participate in a dangerous and lethal game. Against her will, she has to go along with others who were picked from their district. In Catching Fire, the story line is about hope, and without knowing it, Katniss brings hope that could possibly start a war against the Hunger Games itself. In this movie, Hunger Games survivors of previous games return and fight once more, but in the middle of the games, Katniss realizes something that would change the Hunger Games forever.
This movie is full of intense action and laughable moments as well. Some moments were full of such suspense and intensity that I jumped right out of my skin. I was on the edge of my seat a majority of the time, and it was a great action and fantasy movie. If you have read the books though, some of the details in the movie that could have had a key role in understanding of what was happening during the film had been left out. Regardless of those details, you could tell what the main idea was along with a couple of details that were in the film to help move the plot along. I enjoyed the movie very much and liked the suspenseful ending. The film received three and a half stars out of five in the Washington Post and I would personally rate it a three or four stars out of five also. I cannot wait to see the next movie to this series, Mockingjay (coming out Nov. 21, 2014) and watch the suspenseful action that is the Hunger Games.
