Ghost Out

Megan McAnly

Did you see the Grimm Reaper in the hallways on Thursday, May 1? He pulled students out of class every 53 minutes. Why every 53 minutes? Every 53 minutes, one teen loses their life due to drunk driving.

Later that day in the assembly, they presented the students who “died” from drunk driving and covered them with white sheets. Officer Wade read the obituary of the students selected.

The point of Ghost Out is to make students aware that you are not bulletproof; danger is around, but you can avoid it. This topic is not one to take lightly. We have all seen this happen in Jessamine County. Join together and make sure you or your friends are not drinking and driving. We want to see everyone be safe and to make smart decisions. Make the right choices: don’t drink and drive!

Eight West students represented the teen lives that are lost every 53 due to drunk driving.
